Oranges eat Oranges! Turkish Troops Kill Eight Kurdish rebels
Turkish security forces kill eight Kurdish rebels in clashes in the southeast region of the country. A number of cannon helicopter sent to a location where suspected militants winter headquarters of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in the province of Bingol, where clashes are still ongoing."Five of the militants killed was a woman," security sources said on Thursday (15.12.2011), told Reuters.
During November, the Turkish forces also launched several air strikes against Kurdish targets in northern Iraq, as part of an ongoing operation against the PKK guerrilla group, which is based in the remote region.
Turkey, the EU and the U.S. considers the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) as a terrorist organization. The Turkish military launched air strikes and limited ground operations into northern Iraq since August this year following a wave of PKK attacks, after the breakdown of previous truce.
PKK launching attacks from their hideout in a remote mountainous region of Iraq as part of their war to acquire the rights and greater autonomy for the Kurdish population.
More than 40,000 people have been killed since the PKK took up arms in 1984. Turkish leaders have promised to return in October with air strikes and ground after the PKK launched one of the deadliest attacks in that conflict, which killed 24 Turkish soldiers. The attack was carried out at the military post in southern Turkey.
