Billionaire Playboy Challenging Putin


MOSCOW,Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov to challenge Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in the presidential election in March 2012. "I made the most serious decision in life. I'm running for president," he said at a news conference.
"The authority which failed to form a dialogue with the society should go," he continued. But Prokhorov promised not to campaign with the critique on Putin."Criticism should not be more than 10 percent. I will focus on the things I would do," said 46-year single quoted as saying by the BBC.
Even in a blog, Prokhorov said he saw no alternative other than to lead Russia's Putin. "Like it or not, so far Putin is the only figure who can manage the government machinery is not effective," he wrote.






Prokhorov is a new millionaire since the collapse of communism. He built his business empire of investment in minerals and metals.
In the list of world's richest person according to Forbes magazine, he and his business partner Vladimir Potanin was ranked 34. In the pemeritahan President Boris Yeltsin, he was even deputy prime minister position.
Outside of his work as a businessman, owner of United States basketball club, the New Jersey Nets is also known to love the lavish parties and beautiful women.
When asked about his reputation as an international playboy, Prokhorov just laughed. "I do not care. I tried to be fair," he told CNN, adding that he "did not have time" to think about the family.
"I like business. That's my profession. I spent about 15 hours at the office. It's become my happiness and I never think about money," he said.
Prokhorov was not a man who has never dealt with the law. In 2007, he was arrested on suspicion of buying female sex workers in Courchevel, a ski town in France. However, he later declared free pure.
According to Forbes, in 2008, Prokhorov sold its 25 percent stake in Norilsk Nickel, the manufacturer of the world's largest nickel and palladium to Oleg Deripaska. From there he earned money 7 billion U.S. dollars in cash and 14 per cent stake in world's biggest aluminum producer, UC Rusal.
From there he later bought the New Jersey Nets in 2009. He also has a 45 percent stake in the club's property projects, namely the construction of a new Atlantic Yards arena in Brooklyn, New York, in 2012.
According Russiapedia, Prokhorov including new people in the world of politics. He joined the Right Cause party last June and was elected to be leaders.
"Prokhorov claim to be able to replace Vladimir Putin as prime minister if the party was a success in the elections and at one point he even suggests going to be president," wrote Russiapedia.
But the party elders to be annoyed at him and in September he and his men are expelled from the party.
