Magellan revealed the seven models in the 2012 RoadMate series earlier today. The entire line boasts four new features: landmark guidance, traffic camera alerts, access to the bestparking.com database, and junction view. MSRP ranges from $100 to $170.
Landmark guidance navigates drivers by familiar landmarks rather than just street names. Traffic camera alerts alert the driver to red light and speed cameras, even when the device is not being used for navigation. The bestparking.com database is available for drivers to have a handy reference to parking garages, pricing, and hours. Junction view displays a realistic image of the road and highway signs, along with the correct lane that the vehicle needs to be in for safe merging and exits during the expedition.
The new models start with the 2210 4.3-inch screen series. The 2210 is the core model, while the 2210-T includes lifetime traffic alerts. The 2220-LM allows four-times yearly map updates for life. Rounding out the 2210 series is the 2230-LM with both lifetime map updates and lifetime traffic alerts.
The 5220 series, which sports a five-inch screen, includes the 5220-LM with lifetime map updates, along with the 5230T-LM that adds traffic alerts. The 5235T-LM includes all the features of the 5230T-LM and adds a protective sleeve.
No release date or specific pricing for any model has been provided.
