IPad > Launch iPad Apps Using Spotlight

With so many apps available for iPad, you likely have a whole lotta apps installed. So, finding an app you want to use might take a while, especially when you have multiple screens of apps - even if you've given some thought to organizing them.

Spotlight to the Rescue
You can launch any app, fast, using iPad's Spotlight Search feature. (iPhone and iPod touch have this feature, too.)

Using Spotlight to Find an App
From any home screen, press the Home button. (It'll take you to the first Home Screen.) Then, press the Home button again. Now, you're in the Spotlight Search screen.

Start typing the name of the app you want into the search field. As you type, you'll see matches below the search field. You'll see matches for apps, as well as Mail messages, music, contacts and calendar events. The apps will be listed at the top. Tap the app you want and it will launch.

By the way, Spotlight Search is also a great way to quickly find and play a song on your iPad.

WiFi CellNode BRAP Wireless Outdoor Bridge

Overview

CellNode BRAP is an outdoor wireless bridge that allows multiple clients to connect to local or remote access points using 802.11b/g/n 300Mbps wireless links. The device can function in three modes: Bridge, Relay, and Access Point. In Bridge and Relay modes, CellNode BRAP extends the coverage of traditional access points by connecting multiple access points to a single fixed line (Bridge mode) or by connecting multiple access points to a remote access point (Relay mode). Additionally, CellNode BRAP can function as a traditional access point, providing network access to wireless clients. The device has an integrated 15db directional antenna that allows it to enhance its transmission range. CellNode BRAP is designed for outdoors installations and has a built in Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) connection that allows the device to be installed outdoors up to 210 feet (70 meters) away from the client computer or network switch without impact on performance.

Relay Operating Mode

In Relay mode, CellNode BRAP extends the range of wireless networks. The device uses Wireless Distribution System (WDS) technology, allowing it to communicate directly with other access points. This way, a number of secondary access points can connect to a master access point via CellNode BRAP via wireless links.

Key Features

  • Extended product life via firmware upgradeability
  • Controlled network access via MAC access control
  • Enhanced transmission range due to integrated directional antenna
  • Remote installation of up to 210 feet from a network switch supported by PoE technology
  • Multiple operating modes to accommodate different network environments
  • High data exchange rate of up to 300Mbps
  • Secure communication based on 64/128-bit WEP, WPA, WPA2 standards
  • Auto rate fallback for improved connectivity in the presence of obstacles or interferences
  • User friendly configuration via a web browser

WiFi AirStream IPTV Delivery

Problem:

IPTV providers want to capture local digital television markets using 802.11n technology. They require several central points of Wi-Fi transmission to a large number of subscribers with a minimum of 50 digital channel streaming. The providers require that they stay within the limits of the local power transmission Wi-Fi regulation.

Solution:

SysMaster presents the new revolutionary AirStream technology that allows distribution of 120 digital channels via Wi-Fi 802.11n protocol to unlimited number of subscribers. The technology uses custom developed Wi-Fi 802.11n USB devices and the CellNode M100N AirStream access points.

Centralized Management and Provisioning

CellNode M100N AirStream ensures low operational and management costs via its support for centralized management and provisioning. Utilizing a central server interface, administrators can request a configuration change and/or firmware update which will be automatically propagated to all CellNodes within the provider network, regardless of their geographical location.

Unique Routing Protocol with Policy Filtering

CellNode M100N AirStream features unique routing protocol that supports protected Spanning Tree/STP infrastructure to withstand any type of DoS attacks such as Unwanted Broadcasts, Network Flooding, ARP Poisoning, and Evil Twin attacks. The routing protocol logically isolates the client network layers and provides full roaming support. In addition, CellNode offers improved network security via its built-in policy management features to allow traffic prioritization and shaping. The device includes Firewall, QoS, and Radius software to provide advanced security management mechanisms.

2.4 Ghz Transceiver with Super-G and XRS Technologies

CellNode M100N AirStream features 2.4 GHz (802.11n) transceiver with Super-G and Extended Range (XRS) technologies. The 2.4 GHz wireless band is used by the CellNode to communicate with wireless clients located within its service range. All CellNode Access Points that operate in close proximity are utilizing variable power levels and operate on different channels to reduce possible interference.

Optimized RX/TX Power Management

CellNode M100N AirStream features optimized and centrally managed TX/RX power management for optimal performance and decreased interference with other devices. In addition, in situations when a specific client can not be easily reached, each CellNode M100N AirStream may adjust its power for optimized transmission.

Fault-Tolerant Infrastructure Implementation

CellNode M100N AirStream typically operates in a wireless mesh infrastructure to allow easy substitution of failed devices. If one CellNode becomes temporarily unavailable the traffic can be is transparently redirected to alternative devices. Alternatively, if one ISP uplink or gateway becomes unavailable, the CellNodes will attempt to send the traffic to any other available gateway via the built-in intelligent ARP routing mechanism.

Key Features

  • Support for Wireless Mesh Infrastructure
  • Centralized Management and Provisioning
  • Built-in Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
  • Unique Routing Protocol with Policy Filtering
  • Limited Number of Uplink Requirements
  • 2.4 Ghz Transceiver with Super-G and XRS Technologies
  • 5 Ghz Transceiver with Turbo-G Technology
  • Optimized RX/TX Power Management
  • Centralized Access Control
  • Fault-Tolerant Infrastructure Implementation
  • Real-Time Client Scanning and Triangulation Services
  • Advanced Authentication and Session Management
